You can, or I can help you select one. I typically recommend mounts from Amazon that work well for most TVs. If you want a specific type (full motion, tilting, fixed), let me know and I can advise.
How long does a TV mount take?
Standard mount on drywall with accessible studs: 60-90 minutes with clean up. Add time for cable management, difficult walls (brick, concrete), or fireplace mounts. I'll give you an estimate before I start.
Can you mount a TV above my fireplace?
Yes, but it takes longer and may cost more. Fireplace walls often have blocking, masonry, or require additional cable routing. I'll assess it on-site.
I'm in an apartment - is that OK?
Absolutely. I work in apartments all the time, especially around UofA. Most apartments allow TV mounting as long as you patch the holes when you move out (which I can also help with).
What if there's no stud where I want the TV?
I'll find the nearest studs and we'll discuss options. Sometimes we adjust placement slightly. For drywall-only situations, I use heavy-duty toggle bolts rated for the TV weight - but studs are always preferred. Additional board or larger mounts can be used to get the placement just right.
Do you hide cables in the wall?
Yes, when possible. For newer homes with accessible wall cavities, I can run HDMI and power through the wall. For older homes or tricky situations, I use paintable cable raceways that look clean.
